I'm having an mail account on yahoo mail. I formatted my HDD 3 days ago and reinstalled windows XP professional [version 2002] SP2. My problem is that I'm unable to attach any files to any of outgoing mail in my yahoo mail account. The progress bar of yahoo "file attaching" operation just progress for infinite time without attaching anything. I tried this with IE 6.0 , IE 7.0 , opera 9.20 but ended with no success .

Thats not weird..........thats absolutely weird !

There's a good news - I'm able to attach files in opera now, but the problem persists with internet explorer. So I feel a bit relaxed [for I'm able to attach files in my mail] but I will certainly find [or atleast try to find] a solution to problem with IE.

> Well I will try ur advice and contact yahoo now and will inform of everything that happens then.

Your right that is absolutely weird.

Have you tried uninstalling IE and reinstalling it? have you downloaded the lastest service pack or your OS?

Please let me know if you figure this out....I am very interested to know what the problem could be. I will do some research as well and see if i can find other people that had this problem.

Best of luck to you!

Stang02GT THANKS FOR ADVICE.....................

Well, I uninstalled IE 7.0 and then reinstalled it but ended with no success.
And I don't know how to uninstall IE 6.0 [to reinstall it], for there is no option to uninstall it in "Add or remove programs" [ in control panel ] in XP. If you know any way to uninstall IE 6.0, do tell me.

Well I am using Windows XP professional Service Pack 2. Although SP 2 is not latest [I think that SP3 exist] but I don't hope that upgrading to SP3 will solve my problem. Even then if I am able to get SP3, I will install it.

If I am able to find solution to this problem, I will tell you.

THANKS AGAIN..............

Well, yahoo mail does have a helpcenter. I found this article about problems while attaching files and under http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/ you can try to find a solution.

One possible cause is, that the file is bigger than 10MB. But just check my second link, it might solve the whole thing.

Greetings,
Nepomuk

Hello nepomuk,
This thread was started on February 6,2008 by me. But even after more than 5 months the problem is unsolved. I tried what was advised in the links you provided but ended up with failure.

BTW, I now use Opera which doesnot causes any such problem. And I have even reinstalled my Windows XP professional many times from the day this problem started. But no success is achieved.
And yes I'm happy with Opera 9.5. I dont care (from my side even if this problem is unsolved as I use Opera).

THANKS.....

I have just started experiencing a similar problem with Windows Live Mail using IE8. One of the fields towards the bottom of the screen has the word "Javascript;"in it. I've tried all the advice on the Live Mail help, nothing worked. I installed Firefox and got exactly the same problem. But I don't get the problem on another laptop running IE6 and a different version of Java and a different antivirus through the same router. So next step is to install a new version of Java.
