Application Error : The instruction at "0x5f801088" referenced memory

While running my application i got following error in Application log
Faulting application .exe, version , faulting module mfc42u.dll, version 6.2.8071.0, fault address 0x0000239d.

Corresponding error was logged in System Log
Application Error : The instruction at "0x5f801088" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".

Could you let me know when can the above errors occur and what is the cause?

I've seen this error before and did a search over the net. Most every resource suggested uninstalling the application causing the error then, try reinstalling. I believe the initial cause as stated was corrupted data.

Hope this helps,
