HDD Mirroring Problem

hi,

I am Doni. I am having windows 2000 Advance Server with Dynamic Volume Mirrored.


Os : Windows 2000 Advance server
Mirror : Simple
HDD : 2 (Both 80 GB, C drive 14 GB and so on)


A week before my Mirrored HDD is failed. So Today I replaced with new HDD. That is parttioned as exact as provious.

Then I restarted for mirroring. But not started. So once again I started create new.

Now Can you tell me . How to make mirror. I am having one new raw HDD and HDD with Data. I am using windows 2000 server.

Hi Doni,

to create a mirror the disks have to be so called "dynamic disks". If you want to mirror a drive that was previously in an existing mirror you have to stop mirroring first. This can be done in Disk Manager (start ->run -> diskmgmt.msc)

The result should be that you have your disk with data as dynamic disk and not marked for mirroring and the new disk.

Then right click on the source disk and select "add mirror".
