You, along with so many others like you, think that you can just obtain a list of interview questions, study them, and them pass the interview. Unfortunately, interviews are NOT a Micro$oft exam!!! You cannot just study the answers to the questions in a book and go pass the test without actually learning anything.

Interviewers will ask you what is relevant to know for the position at hand. There is no way for anyone to really know the answer to this. You need to go into an interview with the confidence that you can answer whatever questions are put in front of you. If you know your material, and not just multiple guess answers, then you will do fine. If not, then keep job hunting.

Regards,

Jeff

Every interview I have ever been put through (for the jobs I have accepted) included "critical thinking" questions that I was surprised with and had to answer on the spot - such as "how many single-sided squares are in a Rubick's Cube" or the Pirate plunder question (certain number of pirates, certain amount of treasure, how do you get the most out of it), the bridge question (bridge is collapsing in a certain amount of time, each person takes a certain amount of time to get across, you only have one flashlight, what combination of people do you send across), how do you measure the volume of water coming out of a river, or even SAT/ACT style aptitude tests, etc...?

The bottom line is that you can have all the technical facts memorized, but still not be the best candidate for the job because you can't think and operate independently - just be given an assignment such as "program this function," "learn this system," or "repair this collector" and you have no idea what it is or how to do it, but you are able to find out what it is and how to do it in an expedient manner. I would recommend walking through lateral and logical thinking puzzles before devoting so much time to "standard" interview questions. (If the HR person is any good at all, they will vet candidates who only have a surface knowledge of those issues, and they'll know that by asking non-standard questions such as those critical thinking puzzles)
