system administrator problems

hello
im having a problem wiv my pc, it is not detecting me as the system administrator though i am. i have only one user account, no guest or watever. i cannot log in device manager and everywhere whr i need to have system administrator rights. i cant even install some programs due to restrictions effects. i hav already scanned my pc and found nothing
plz help and explain in simple terms

Try booting into safe mode (pressing F8 while the machine boots - this is generally before the splash screen). Once that boots in, you can right click My Computer and go to Manage. Then 'Users and Groups,' Users, all that fun stuff, until you finally get to your user. You should be able to give your user the proper privileges there.

Even if there is only one user there is an administrator account in windows XP and you have to access it through safe mode. Start the PC in safe mode and when you reach the login screen type in Administrator as the user name. Then type in the admin password (could be blank if you didn't add one). Once you logged in you can set up the account as needed.

try this:
I understand you have one user which you use for login,
remember there is an ADMINISTRATOR user exist besides this user.
now if you are getting fancy colour full login page with your user name and some Icon at the left side when you start your system, press control+alt+del one time to get standard login prompt which provides two text boxes 1 for user name and the other for password.
Now you have to have know your administartor password for filling in administartor as user name.
then using this a/c you can promote your user as admin by addding it into administrators (mind the "'S" at the end administrator is a user and administartors is a group) GROUP.

Removing the CMOS battery doesn't do anything to the operating system. You are just resetting the clock and BIOS settings. The operating system does not store anything in the eeprom that the CMOS battery is linked with. If your motherboard has a password on it and you forget it then you can remove the CMOS battery.
