Microsoft Access file download link stopped

Morning all

I have a rather strange problem I have been trying to solve for a few days now. I am using Namo Web Editor for our local Intranet. All static pages with fixed URL's. I have a few links set up to some Microsoft Access databases, which worked fine in the past, but just recently(and now changes had been made) whenever a user clicks on a link, they get an Explorer File Download Security Warning. They click on open to allow, the file download window shows and completes the download, but the database is then not displays, in fact nothing at all happens. Anu other links on this site that points to other Microsoft apps like Exce,Word,Powerpoint etc. works fine though.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Cheers

are any users behind a firewall? are you using ie7? if so, did all this start when you installed ie7?

Hi there

Thank you very much ofr the reply. Yes all clients and the server the database is shared on is behind the same firewall. Well, I am the only person with IE7 while others are using IE6, but everyone gets the same result. I have played around with Explorer settings, but the result is the same no matter what I change. :-(

Just something else. I have noticed that in the folder where the Access databases are held, there are other Icons as well. They are .ldb extensions with the same names as the databases in this same folder and each of these icons have a blue lock on the top right corner??? Never seen these before, so I think this might have something to do with the problem?

LDB file:

Whenever you open an Access database, a file with the same name as the database and an extension of LDB will be opened automatically. For example if you open Northwind.mdb in the samples directory of your Access/Office installation, a file called Northwind.ldb will be generated. This new file keeps track of users and the objects that require some form of locking in the database. When all users have exited gracefully from the database, the LDB file is closed down and deleted.
i'll get back to you about the access file, currectly looking at something.

Thanks for the feedback and the explanation. No woriies, you carry on. Just something else to add. When I browse to the folder where the databases are kept, I can launch all databses fine from there. So the problem is definitely only when I try and access it via URL from a webpage.

Afternoon

Has anyone else come accross this issue? It is driving me insane....:-(

Right dont worry, fixed it.

Launched the Access databases in question. Open Tools - Startup... - Diplay Form/Page.

Change the display form to the form you use as the splashscreen for your database or the first form you want users to see when they open it.

Save changes. Opened the databse via the URL as set up in WebEditor and it works fine.
