Mirroring my desktop

I'd like to be able to display the same image on a second monitor, as is on my laptop. I can make it work on one laptop, but not another. Is this because of the video card? (The laptop that works is about 3 years old - doesn't work on the 1 year old one. Both are running XP)

the laptop that doesn't work, what kind is it (make and model)? and what video card does it have? do you have the newest drivers?

All laptops come with a Function key and in combination with F1,2,3,4,5 will trigger a certain function such as sound up/down, brightness up/down, wireless on/off and external monitor on/off look for this on the keyboard and when the external monitor is connected press the function key in combination with the F key that has a screen or a square drawn on it.

The other way is to go into the desktop properties by right clicking on the desktop and hitting properties and then going to settings > advanced and choosing your monitors there.

But as epots said if you give us the model of your laptop and perhaps the video card (ati, nvidia, intel) we can help you out much better.

Excellent!!

Thank you very much. I tried the Fn+F5 and it worked!!

Incidentally, the laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A100-220. There's a label that says 'graphics by ATI' so I'm guessing that's the graphics card...
