.htm files won't open in e-mail

Please help. I have tried everything I know and e-mail attachments with .htm extentions will not open. I have Windows, Earthlink dial-up, HP Pavilion Desktop a1102n.

I'm so sorry, I don't understand how to do that. I am using internet explorer as my web browser. Is there a setting I need to change somewhere?

Sorry for the SIMPLE question, but could someone please tell me how to open e-mail attachments with Internet Explorer? It is only files with the extension .htm that I cannot open.

are you viewing your email from the a browser or a POP client (ie. outlook). There should be a option to download the attachment and from the download dialog you can save as or run it, do one or the other. It should open IE by default if prompted to select a program is use to open the file select IE.

Hi, thanks so much for offering to help. It is a pop browser, I think. My e-mail is thru Earthlink and when it is checking for new mail it says "connecting to pop.earthlink.net....is that what you need to know? When I open the attachment(s) with .htm I get all text and boxes with red x's instead of pictures. This only seems to happen when I receive mail from DSL users. When I open the attachment it asks if I want a temporary copy or if I want to save, either way I get no pictures. I wonder if I'm missing an add-on or something?????
