POST-AOL IE, XP and/or HP Deskjet printing issue

Hi - My mom recently took the plunge away from AOL and starting using Internet Explorer. I uninstalled AOL and all of its componets, including Incredimail. She has IE 7, Windows XP (with auto updates ON, so I assume SP2), and an HP Deskjet 5150 printer.

The problem is now when we try to save or print anything off the internet, we get the HTML source code instead of the text or graphic on the page. Text documents created with notepad print fine, but I'm not able to even copy and paste text onto notepad, I still get source code. I have also tried printing images and printing selected text only with no change.

I have checked the printer drivers and not found any updates needed. I have of course turned everything off and rebooted every way imaginable. I cant find any mention of this problem on the HP website.

PLease Help!! Thanks in advance.

I guess that I'd go with un-install/re-install IE7. Then re-updated it.

This worked to solve a mystery problem in WMP10.

Thanks -- I thought of that, but wasn't sure how to do it. I guess I also wasn't thinking of it being an IE problem, but it does seem logical. I assume I just save the downloaded installation file and then uninstall IE, then run the new installation? It makes me nervous not having a browser even momentarily!

Thanks again - I appreciate your taking the time to post what probably seems obvious to some!

Uninstalling IE7 from Add/Remove Software usually puts IE6 in its place. You'll be OK (but you may want to grab the Firefox download while you are connected - it is a far superior browser).
