First of all, make sure there are no printing tasks scheduled. (System control -> Printer -> HP PSC 1400 All-in-One series) If there are, remove them.
Then try again.

If it still won't stop, switch the printer off, deinstall the printer drivers (System control -> Printer -> left click on "HP PSC 1400 All-in-One series" -> remove or deinstall or similar), restart the computer, download the newest drivers from the HP website, switch the printer on, it will ask you to install the printer drivers. Give it the (unpacked) drivers you downloaded and follow the instructions. After you've finished, try switching the printer off and on again. If it prints the same pages, follow the instructions on them. Then again switch it off and on. If it continues to act in this way, ask again.

Greetings,

go to add/remove programs and uninstall the drivers for the printer (and everything that came with those drivers, usually a suite), unplug the printer from the computer and turn it on. Since its unpluged it shouldn't print a thing. turn it off now.

Now install the drivers again and only plug the printer in when are told to. once it tells you to print the printer back in, do so then turn it on. let it finish.

fixed?

This is a great test! This will tell you if the problem is internal to the printer, or if something in your PC's installation. Let us know how that turns out for you.

if it still prints and its unplugged...i'd call up HP and see what they say. but if the printer is less than 30 days old i think where you bought it from will take it back.

The printed page may have what you need. Also, break out the manual for the printer which can usually be found on the CD that came with it.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

I just had the same problem. All you have to do it put the printed test page into the scanner and press the scan button on the printer (like it shows you in the diagrams, 3 steps). On my test page, it shows the test page being put into the scanner with the 2 black squares to your left, and the 3 black squares to your right as you look at the printer.

The printer has now stopped printing a test page everytime I turn the printer on. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tom.

You can probably download what you need from HP Support.

it is not about the windows, neither your computer. it means that our silly printers are not meant to work with those cartidges.
I've experienced that problem with hp 1315. at first time the service said one of your cartidges is not working. So i replaced both. Problem solved. 6 months later after i refilled my cartidges one day ago, it started that stupid Error again. when i open the printer, it automatically prints a paper, which says "To get the best quality, follow the steps using this sheet." so i do, bu it does not scan the sheet on the last step.
Now there seems an error on the cartidge display. But i don't know which window i will choose to throw it!
