This probably isn't the right forum to ask this question, considering the only similarity it has is Windows XP.
I have an AVI file, encoded in Divx, around 200mb in size.
I want to add high quality subtitles to this AVI.
I bought Adobe Premiere Elements to do so, and, thanks to my lack of research, later found that it (Adobe Premier Elements) doesn't support Divx, only DV encoded AVIs.
I've been all over the internet looking for ways to add quality hard subtitles (not subtitles as a separate file) to an AVI encoded in Divx, without blowing up the size of it to over 23 gigs, but with absolutely no luck. I tried huffy codecs, avisynth, ffdshow, virtualdub, virtualdubmod, vobsob...
All the forum information I could find is at least 2 years old, and they are all referencing freeware programs.
I'm willing to pay however much money is necessary, to be able to do the following to a 200mb (approx) divx encoded AVI while keeping it's size roughly the same, and without sacrificing much video/audio quality:
- Add subtitles to the divx encoded AVI
- Then save the AVI so that it has those subtitles built in, not separate.
Any recent forums you guys could refer me to would be extremely appreciated. All I've been able to find is tons of conflicting information on old freeware programs.

I've been extreemly happy with Pinnacle Studio 10. I just checked: It does support divx. However, I can't tell you what the resulting size might be due to lack of experience. I do know that Pinnacle has a good reputation for speed and file size. It's not cheep (probably about a hundred bucks), but if you get it at Best Buy or some place like that, it comes with a great manual.
Hope that helps you out.

Awesome, thanks a lot for the input. I'll check it.
