Lost MSDN Hyperlinks

Something has recently 'happened' to my MSDN for VB6. Wherever there used to be a hyperlink to another topic, there is now a symbol of some sort, and if I click on it, dial-up starts. I've tried de-installing and re-installing both MSDN on its own, and VB6 then MSDN, to no avail. Any ideas, please?

Dial-up starts, huh? Sounds like Internet settings window may be a place to look. Often, just running the Network setup wizard will fix this kind of thing.

Find both of these in the Control Panel (Internet settings appear other places as well).

Hadn't thought of that, you might have a point, but I can't see anything unusual in my Internet Settings, and MSDN has been working OK for many months.. I've had another look at one of the 'dead' pages, setting 'never dial a connection' in Connections to stop it dialling up, and before each hyperlink, there's a box with a dot in the middle of it. If I click on the hyperlink, I get an Internet Explorer Script Error. Does this suggest anything?

Success!
Prompted by the above, I recalled that I had upgraded from IE6 to IE7 a week or two ago, but it hadn't occurred to me that I hadn't used the MSDN help files for VB6 since then.
I reverted to IE6 and MSDN was fine, reinstalled IE7 and MSDN went wrong again.
Conclusion - IE7 destroys VB6's ability to access its help files.
I can get tabbed browsing by using FireFox instead, and leaving IE6 in place for MSDN's benefit, but is there anything I can do to get MSDN to run from IE7?

Many thanks to bartonc

I, myself, have struggled with conflict between Visual Studio's Help font setting and fonts in the rest of my system. Seems to me that M$ gives the tools to developers, but doesn't give the needed support for us to maintain our systems.

I'm glad you got your links back and are using FF as your default browser. Sorry to be not so helpful, further,
Barton

Breaking News...
My new broadband modem arrived this morning, so I was finally able to download all the 80-odd fixes that Windows Update has been waiting to send to me, including IE7.
Installed everything, including IE7, and MSDN for VB6 still works.
Conclusion - installation of IE7 only wrecks MSDN help files for VB6, if there are other Windows updates outstanding.

Thank you VERY much for that update! Let this be a lesson to all of us "experts":
Remember to ask "Is your OS up-to-date?"!
