PC to laptop data transfer

I am trying crossover cable for PC to laptop data transfer. I am able to see PC in laptop and vice versa over network and also able to ping both computers. But, when I double click on PC or laptop icon in respective computer it gives me error "You do not have permission to use resource on this network". My PC runs XP Pro and laptop runs Vista Home premium. Any suggestions?

Run the network wizard from the Control Panel and turn on simple file sharing. You can just click ok on all of the other screens. Then, any folder that you want to be able to access on the other computer must have the permissions changed. Do that in the Properties dialog for the folder. There is a separate check box that allows files to be changed from the network computer.

Hope that does it for you.
