That's very rare. Try rebooting while your machine is hot. If it passes the BIOS memory test, that's not the problem.

You could also try removing and re-installing the DIMMs. If the problem goes away, you had bad contacts on the memory.

slow, applications not working correctly, blue screens with IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR _NOT EQUAL TO
with hex code possibly 0x00000000
memory counting eratic when booting up.
And no its not a rare thing to have memory fail.
It is a common occurance depending on where and how much a pc or laptop is used. Also when your systm fans or cpu fans allow a system to over heat you will get the same types of problems
