HELP! MSCOMM with USB PORT

hi!
im running late for my college project deadline.. plz help me guys..
im using a gsm phone as gsm modem and tryn to send AT commands to it so as to send text message to a mobile number. it is assigned as COM4 port in hyperterminal and AT commands works fine in HYPERTERMINAL. when i program it on VB6.0 with MSCOMM port. it says

ERROR -"Could not set comm state. there may be one or more invalid comm parameter.".

this itself is a program refiined many times with the codin posted here..
GSM Phone- Motorola V3i Razr
OS - Winxp SP2
(and tryed chkin my device manager for the correct port number. it isn't there. there is com1 and printer port. com4 is not listed but in hyper terminal it is listed as com4.)

Seems that this may be more to do with your particular machine. In the absence of any physical info I have moved you to the windows group. Maybe someone there has more experience with com ports

Guys thanks, project is working some how..only serial comm code is left.. if any problem arises ll surely post queries here...

I am attempting to code the same function and am facing the same problem as you. Could you please forward me your solution? I am attempting with a Moto V3xx and wasn't sure if I was having a problem because the phone charges from USB or not.

Can anyone else help?
