HELP W/ VBA in EXCEL

Hi,
I am trying to figure out how I might ask for user input (Plant name) using a drop down list in an excel sheet then using/storing that data and dependent upon the name chosen, load data that is found elsewhere in the workbook into a separate sheet. If the name chosen changes, I would like the data to change as well. I am not familiar with programming in VBA (I've done C++ in the past), but I figured that a macro might work nicely, I just don't really know how to store string data into a variable and then load the appropriate data. I have tried ' Dimension the Variable
Dim Plant As String
but I don't know how to get the data from the appropriate cell and store it as Plant to be used later. Can anyone help me with this or offer any other suggestions? It would be much appreciated, thanks.

There may be some excel gurus in the Visual Basic Forum. You could try asking there, as well. As for the macro, if you do what you want as a series of menu commands then you can capture that in a macro. I never figured out any other way to run a macro besides the menu and don't use excel any more. Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful.
