I learn the most by fooling around until something breaks and then fixing it.
I've got an XP Pro server and all the ports on my router are full. I learned everything about networking by setting it up and making it work. None of the books that I found were much help.

Sure, heres how I started.

My boss asked me to lock down the workstation, mind you there was no server involved. He wanted to me to restrict different profiles from access different parts of windows.

Example: Admin everything
user1 no access to admin tools
user2 no access to anything except there documents.

Start with that, it will give you a good understanding of user access rights.

I suggest starting with Windows Vista as it will prepare you for the future. Although XP will still be the most widely used operating system for the next two years or so.

Cyber.

You might want to check out amazon for great books, you can find those books even cheaper at half.com

Good Luck!
