Audit access to files and folders

I have tried setting up auditing for the files and folder using the built in auditing but the results in the event log were not meaningful, So I want to know audit access to files and folders on a file server and keep track of every files and folder opened by users.

Can someone advice me to a procedure or utility for doing this ?

Yeah, native file auditing is a mess.

There are some products on the market that can help make sense of it, but most people opt not to use any system that rely on native file auditing since there are other problems related to native file auditing (configuration, performance, event log wrap, grooming, etc…)

Our product FileSure can do what you need and is pretty painless to use; but there are other file auditing systems out there. I suppose most of them work ok, but we view our most direct competitor as File System Auditor.

Agreeing to the above said answer. Native auditing is not a mess but its like an exprienece of having a thing done manually that is not reliable and accurate. If you want you can please have a look at this link for the native auditing.

Moreover you have a look at this application also for the same.

Thanks.
