hotmail has been hijacked

P: 1
I have had the same email address for 20 years I think. Last week, someone hacked into my system and started sending x rated emails from my address. I am a minister and our Bishop didn't appreciate any of it,neither did the other pastors on my list. I tried to change my password, but it has been changes too. I have Norton 360 on my computer and they still got thru. How can i get my account back?

If they've got into your email address, they haven't necessarily (quite unlikely in fact) got into your computer. If you told me your email address (Don't - Never publicly) I could send something out on your behalf (that would work to most email servers). Alternatively, if I had managed to get hold of your hotmail password, I could send out emails via the Hotmail server, just as you do, and no-one would know they weren't sent by you.

You may want to get in touch with Hotmail and ask them to help you reset the password at least. There is very little that can be done to stop anyone using your name as long as they aren't actually connecting to Hotmail to send it.
