Can the microsoft winsock component be used in VB5

Hi

Can anyone help me please?

I need to set up a simple listening port in VB5 and was wondering if the Winsock Component could be used.

I want to collect some data from 4 machine which are connected to a server. I could take these out of the server and rout them direct into a PC if this is easier.

I dont normally do networking or PC based networking just collection of data from machinery.

Thanks

Brian
