How to update sql table from vb6

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. dim rs as adodb.recordset
  2. dim rs=new adodb.recordset
  3.
  4. dim str as string
  5.
  6. str="select * from partymas where ac_code= ' " +    txt_party_code + " ' "
  7.
  8. if rs.state=adstateopen then
  9.    rs.close
  10. end if
  11.
  12. rs.open str,gcuurrconn,adopendynamic,adlockbatchoptimistic
  13.
  14. if opt_p.value=true then
  15.    rs.fields(orientation).value="p"
  16. else if opt_l.value =true then
  17.    rs.fields(orientation).value="l"
  18. end if
  19.
  20. rs.batcupdate
  21. rs.close
  22. set rs=nothing
this code is working very much fine.
In the above code i have only mentioned rs.field(orientation) there are other field also which i am updating similar to orientation depending on condition.

One of my friend hinted me to use update statement
and i am trying to use update statement and look to modify above code instead of opening a recordset.

If anybody could help me with update statement in vb6
