how an i count the content(as a whole) in a field from database

i have a program a monitoring system i have a problem because i dont know if it is possible to count the content in a particular field..my field name were "NumberOfdays"
i wonder if there were a vb6 code that will count the total numberofdays and will appear in a textbox pls.. i need your help..
