I'm looking for a script to processes a ascii variable record

This is information on the file below.
Record Length of 674
The Data Character position at 674 record length
0 = equates to a record length of 674 bytes.
1 = 674 + 172 bytes to equate to a record length of 846 bytes.
2 = 674 + 344 bytes to equate to a record length of 1018 bytes.
3 = 674 + 516 bytes to equate to a record length of 1190 bytes.
