how do I get a subform to duplicate the date asked for on the mainform?

I have a form in access 2007 with a subform attached. One give details by date (hours), the subform groups by a job number. I need both to be date specific. The main form asks for a start date and an end date, and returns the correct information, but the subform returns all hours from day 1 to present. How can I have the subform return the same dates, without having to enter them again. ie, add the [enter start date] and [enter end date] in the subform??
