OWC10 Scatter Point

I have a custom OWC10 Scatter Chart that is fully controlled by VBA and works perfectly. One of the features it the ability of the user to select specific points or groups of points that meet a criteria and the chart will change the color of those points to highlight them from the rest of the group. All of this functionality works great, but because the chart sometimes has many points in a very small area of the graph, some of the points are invisible because they are behind others.

Does anyone know how I can take specific points and 'move them to the front', for lack of a better term.

For some background on the charting, the points are drawn in the sort order of the underlying recordset.

I've thought about adding a column to the chart that will return a sort value based on user selection. I've also thought about adding additional series that will sit on top of the original series. But both of these methods require a redraw of the chart and I'm trying avoid this if possible.
