In Vb shell is s function that is used to open any exe or batch file.

That is totally different from shell scripting.

Ya, in vb..Shell 'abc.txt','notepad.exe'
will open the text file in notepad.
Similarly you can open any file with any app.
But can anyone explain what shell scripting is?

Yes..
Exactly what I wanted.
I will try with this.
But, I too don't have an idea about Shell Scripting.
But if you want to know about that, please go to this site;
