how can i use msaccess database as a multiuser database?

Hi Genius,

vanakam

i developed a application with msaccess as a backend and vb6 as a frontend tool, it can work in a stand alone machine.

now i want to convert as multiuser application, at the same time more than one user my access the same table such as billing, payment entry,payment recived entry. how can i implement this one.

pls anybody give idea. pls.............................................

The two companies I've worked for that did this eventually replaced Access with another solution due to intractable problems with Access as a Multi User Database. While Access has the capability - it is neither refined nor good at it. I would strongly advise against trying this. It is a great single user database for light duty. Get heavy or multi-user - move to something designed for this such as MS SQL, or MySQL. The learning curve is not bad at all.

How do you connect your access to vb? Are you using dsn or what?

Just try this:

Make sure that server and the users's pcs are connected then try to make a shortcut icon of the exe file from the server to the user's pc. This will work.

Hi,

ok fine.it coundn't access at the same time. database connected with odbc(dsn)

Example
user 1 and user 2 want to make a bill for diff. customer how it can autogen. then bill number?
