Automate Java/Firefox actions from VB

Hello Everyone.
I read about this way to add a reference to VB project of MS HTML Object library. Then it allows you to automate IE actions.

On similar lines, can one also automate Java applet / Java web start application actions ? If yes, can someone please share a few links / examples ? I will also like to try the same for Firefox [my attempts to add the xpcom.dll into a standard VB project failed :-( ].

I'm using Visual Basic 6.0 (and I'm not an expert at it).

Thank you in advance for the replies.
