VB6 & SourceSafe

P: 1
I am currently doing a project in VB6 and we are using sourcesafe. In .Net you are forced to check out a document before working on it, but I see in VB6 you can just start working on it without checking it out, which defeats the purpose of sourcesafe if there are more than one person working on it. Is this normal? Or is there something that i am not doing.

When i open the project, sourcesafe prompts me for my username and password and then retrieves the forms. But when i start working on them, i can just open them and start changing stuff.

Hi Lizelle,

That behavior is not normal apparently. When a project is under source control, you cannot modify any unchecked out file of it.
It is most likely the "read-only" attribute of the file you opened has been removed for some reason. Please check that.
