moving data from one table to another

55
i'm creating a logsheet program what i thought of was having 2 tables 1 for the logsheet and 1 for a temporary table for all that is signed in once a person signs out i search for his id number in the temp table and add the his time out then move it to the logsheet table. i'm having trouble deleting the records from the temp table.

it says multiple-step operation generated errors and points to my adodc.recordset.delete

i'm not sure on what is the cause of this error

thanks for the help!

Glad to see you got it sorted out. :)

Just in case anyone else comes looking for the same sort of solution, do you mind telling us how you resolved it?

sure, but i'm not sure if it was the best way :)

i have two buttons cmdTimeout and cmdOK
when i click cmdTimeout it searches for the idnum then upate the necesarry fields in the table and assigning the values to the secondtable
when i click cmdOK
this is when i update the secondtable and delete the fields in the 1st table

my original code for this was
adodc2.recordset.update
adodc2.recorset.refresh
adodc1.recordset.delete
adodc1.recordset.movelast

what i did was just place another search for adodc1 to get the record again before deleting it

my new code for this is
adodc2.recordset.update
adodc2.recorset.refresh
<search statements here>
adodc1.recordset.delete
adodc1.recordset.movelast

Hope this helps

Thanks for that.

I wouldn't worry about whether it's the "best" way. That's usually a matter of opinion anyway.
