I need to make a true random number and I am going to use the system time * a random number and well I need to know how to make VB get the system time.

RANDOMIZE will create a new seed based on the system time. anyway if you want to do it old style, TIME will give you todays date and time, and TIMER will give you the seconds that has passed today since midnight.

I don't think it's possible to generate truly random values using current computer technology.

Anyway, the system time thing depends on the version of VB. In VB6, you can use the Timer or Now functions. Look them up in the doco.
