How do you turn Visual Basic off

Dear all,
I work in a busy office with people of varying standards of computing skills.
For some reason the programme we use starts the Visual Basic editor off when users are writing in Microsoft Word.
The less able users then get in a right tizzy and a) panic about how to turn it off b) lose lots of their stories.

None of them will ever use the program.
How do I switch it off please so that it cannot come on screen.

Many thanks,
Shaun

If its a macro, you can always switch the macro security to high, this will block any vb command

But won't that also stop the macro doing anything useful?

I thought there was an option somewhere in Word's security settings that determined whether you were able to access the VB editor.
