Display semi-transparent lines over live video

Hi,
I am new to programming VB6. I am trying to write an application to display a semi-transparent image over live video from a wireless camera. Or simply draw the image on the live video window. I understand .NET has opacity control but I only have VB6. Can anyone help?

Does it have to be an image, or would text do? If the latter, perhaps a label with a transparent background would be good enough.

Thanks for the reply.

Perhaps just lines drawn on the live video window would do the trick. I would like to draw dashed lines in a crosshair geometry about the center of the window. Then if I could change the opacity or line weight it would look semi-transparent. I'm not sure how to do this.

I've read a bit about this stuff, years ago. I believe it's to do with setting up transparency "masks" and doing special copies using the API, or something. Give me a few days, I might be able to track something down. In the meantime, I'd suggest some Googling on the combined subjects of VB, transparency and so on.
