Manipulation of tcp buffer in vb

i am using winsock for client server application.
i am sending 1000 bytes from server, but client's processor is busy in some other task.Client miss data_arrival event as a result data gets accumulated in tcp's buffer and my vb application receives data more than 1000bytes ie some small chunk of next byte stream merges with previous stream.how shall i manuplate tcp receiving buffer in vb.
