Reference of VBA

50
Hello,
I'm new to VB & VBA. I used a DLL (let's call it a.dll) in my program and included it in the Reference. It's working well, but then I un-tick this DLL (not delete, sitll in its original directory, and still can be seen in Reference), restart the program, my program still work well. It still can call the DLL's functions. Why?

Thank you!

Probably the DLL simply hasn't been unloaded. My guess is if you restart, you'll find that it suddenly can't access the DLL.

on the contrary, after restart, it still works well. Actually, if you click on the reference (not ticked), it still can display the right path for you!

Hm... then it's a mystery to me what's going on.

I guess the ticked DLL(or libarary) in Reference will be loaded into memory automaticaly when Access starts.
The unticked DLL only be loaded into memory when Access applicaiton call the related functions of the DLL.
Am I right?

when u do not need a dll function, simply dont use it in ur program. u do not need care about it :D.
y did u uncheck it in Reference and continue using it???
some dll function can be used by a declare:
Private Declare Function "functionName" Lib "dllName" Alias "AliasName" (...)
its a reference by code.

To make sure that the DLL couldn't still be used...
(Perhaps they didn't know if they'd unticked the correct DLL in the References, and were testing?)

To be honest, I wouldn't have a clue. I thought you simply had to tick the ones you wanted, otherwise they were not available. But I don't know in detail how it works. Possibly someone in the Access forum could tell you.
