I want to know if i can run my vb5 program from a cd, i am using access as a data base.
I hope this thread is in the correct area, sorry about the other threads. jim
Other threads? Now you've got me worried. :)
Seriously, as danp129 said, apart from needing to open the database as read-only, it seems as though it should work. And while I don't agree that you need to set it to exclusive, you would almost certainly
want to. Files on a CD can be shared, but things tend to get
very slow.
You might need to include all support files (VB runtime, etc.) on the CD, in case they're not available on the target machine.
Hm... in fact, I have my doubts as to whether this could be made to work on a PC that doesn't have Access, or at least the Access runtime, already installed. However, I admit that I'm pretty weak in the whole database-connection area and could be completely wrong.
It might be simpler if you were to set up the CD to
install the program and database onto the PC.
