Handling Tab and space-delimited strings

5
Hi everyone,

I am writing a program in vb6 that reads lines from a text file, these lines are space and tab-delimited. Currently I am using the Split function to split each string according to a space between the fields into an array, but the tab delimited fields does not get split.

Is there anyway of using the Split function to split at spaces and tabs? Or maybe another way of doing this.

Any help would be appreciated!

Could you explain a little more about the data? Does the same file (or even the same record) contain both spaces and tabs as delimiters? Is there any sort of order to this, or are the delimiters just kind of a free-for-all?

I'm thinking that depending on the circumstances, perhaps you can first do a swap (Replace() function to standardise them, I think it is) and then do the Split.

Replace() function works like a charm!

Thanks!
