WebBrowser Without Microsoft Internet Controls?

P: 2
Ok, so I was trying to use a Web Browser in my application and it was working for a long time, but all the sudden it stopped working when I used it in an exe file. I then thought that I made an error, but I checked some of my other files that use web browsers that were working before, and now they don't work. I am running IE7, and tried re-installing that. I also Tried using shdocvw.dll and ieframe.dll and both of them didn't work.

When I test my applications within Visual Basic 6 they all work, but for some reason it doesn't work when I export the .exe file.

I also made sure that my firewall allowed the program.

My Question is: Is there a way to make a web browser without using Microsoft Internet Controls?

If there isn't(or if its hard to do so), then is there a way to have my application be viewed when someone goes to my webpage? So like when someone is viewing my webpage with the application running it will show all the content, then at the bottom it will show the application, without adding any coding to the actual page.

I'm sorry if that was hard to understand. I have trouble explaining things like this sometimes, but if you don't understand what I am wanting, I will be happy to ask in a more understandable form.

Thanks

Hello evank3!

Did you try your exe file with IE6?

If you need to revert to IE6, try restoring from previous date before you installed IE7, make your exe file again, then run it to see if the problem goes away.

IE7 has without a doubt redone/reconfigured certain IE6 settings. I've had similar problems at work. See what restoring your machine does for you.

Good luck!

i've had problems too but found a way around it, you go to add form then add web browser form then the MDI form then do the coding but i don't know how to put the HTML in the code so it opens the page you want. Hope i helped
