databound checkbox control

P: 1
i have a checkbox and many text boxes in an update panel. I also have an update button on the form. I want to be able to create an if statement in the vb code that allows me to say something like:

if checkbox1 = true then textbox1 = "cool"

but the problem i get is that it says checkbox1 is undeclared.
any ideas here?
