How to search contents of files within a folder

P: 1
Please can anybody help me with my problem ? I cannot search utility and I must program it (but only program so far in Visual FoxPro).

Simple program : search string on files on actual directory, if found it return name of the file .... Best if found test rename this file 0001.xxx (two founded file 0002.xxx).

I'd suggest you look into the FileSystemObject. It will provide the tools you need in VB to scan through a folder and identify and access the files. As for searching their contents, there are various ways you might implement that, but you need to find the files first.

What version of VB are you using?

(Also, I've changed the subject of the thread, as "total Beginner" is not much help when searching the forum.)
