Problems with VB Express 2005 Ed. on our Network

I'm hoping someone here can help me with this problem(s).

I am teaching a high school Basic Programming class and we have changed over to Visual Basic Express 2005 Ed. The program has been installed on the computers hard drives. The hard drives are cleared of all student saved files upon logging out, therefore students must save their files to their network drive. The following is a list of problems that do not occur when the program is first created and run but do appear once the student "File, Save All"

End does not work and displays an error:
Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
picturebox.imagelocation="H:\bla bla bla\picture.jpg" will sometimes show the picture and other times show a broken image icon. When I say sometimes does and sometimes does not, I am referring to the same line of code.

Inputbox also does not work once the students save to their network drives. The error is:

Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.VBInputBox .resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "Microsoft.VisualBasic" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed.

I appreciate any help and advice you can give me.

Thanks

Hi.

I'm afraid most of this is 'way over my head, but I do have a question about one aspect of the problem. You said
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. picturebox.imagelocation="H:\bla bla bla\picture.jpg"
works sometimes but not other times. What I'd like to know is, does the code actually contain a complete path (as in the sample shown) or a partial path. If the latter, then anything which changes the current directory could have an impact.

Also, is it possible that something is changing one or more network drive mappings at some point?

Your students should transfer their project to the local drive to continue working on it and save it to the network drive when finished

Thanks for the reply. The code does contain the entire file name and path. The program will actuall work flawlessly until it is saved to the network drive. Then you've got a 5-95 pecent chance of it working.

Thanks, that gave me an idea... students do not have access to the C:\ except for that initial Create/Save. Here's what has worked:

1. students create and save the project on the hard drive.

2. they then save .vb as to their network drive before they leave.

3. Next day they create another new project on the C:\

4. They then will need to add and existing item and choose the form they saved to their network drive the day before.

5. Delete the form object that was created when they created the new project.

6. Save the project to the C:\ and continue working.

7. Again, save .vb as to their network drive before they leave.

It's not ideal, but it will work for now.

I am going to install visual basic express on our school computers.
...
I'm going to split this post off to a thread of its own - it will be more likely to get a response than an old thread.
