VB, searching for something on my screen through code

Hi, I'm really new to VB and am taking on a small project here. I am trying to create a program that will run in the background, and keep watching my screen for a change, such as a number change or a letter change at a certain area of my screen, which could also move every now and then. The position of location of the numbers and letters is related to a Title that always stays the same.

Like this:
"This is the Title"
12 G

I want the program to find the title, that always stays the same, then read the number or letters under it into my program. And have it do this every so often.

Can this be done? I am using VB because I was told it should be easier.

Thanks for any help.

I'm not really clear what you are trying to do. Do you have any code for this yet? If so post it please.

ok, so this is what it's all about. You have your regular windows screen and everything is running fine. Right now I have a program running that is in it's own window on the screen. In this program the is a label, and that label could be anything, say my name to be simple. So, beside my name every so often a random letter or number is put there. The position of my name could change in that window, as well as a slight change in the position of the letter and number beside my name.

So what I need is a program that will scan the screen every so often, find my name, and get the number or letter that is displayed beside it, if there is one there.

Hope that clears it up.

Thanks for any help offered or provided.
