Serialisation, Databases, and Word.

I need to know how to Serialize things, that is, I have a textbox on a screen, I press a button, and I need to get the data in the textbox to get onto the Word document.
Additionally, how would I do this with an Access Database?

And, finally, when opening files in VB, they don't open properly, and it says 'this file is already open' when I try clicking the button used to open it.
I know all this sounds crude without code but it's something like...

Dim stra As String
stra = InputBox("Specify File:", "Alert")
If stra = "" Then
Print MsgBox("You haven't specified a file!", vbCritical)
Else
Open stra For Binary As #1
End If

And it says the file is already open, I have tried many different files, file types.

So, does anyone know about Serialisation and opening files :) Much appreciated

There are a lot of defaults being used here. It might help to be specific. For example, try including the "Shared" clause.
