how can i monitor everything that is happening in a window(application) ?

I want to write an application where I can monitor everything that is
happening
(like menus opening, text written, sub-windows opened, etc) in an
application

I guess that this is something that can be done with Visual Basic,
Also I guess that I should use some kinf of function from a DLL file

Can you guide me to what function that may be, or any other way it
can happen or if there is an existing application or tool for that job ?
thnx

In the APIs there are things called Hooks, ie a keyboard hook, mouse hook
and the like.
I can't remember how they are used, but the idea is to intercept messages.
You can do what you like with these messages, but remember to pass them on
to the normal message handling routine,
unaltered. As these are API functions, your best bet would be to write a DLL
for functions.

It ain't much but,
