Wanted: 32-bit VSVIEW.OCX and VSOCX.OCX

Anyone know where I can acquire old versions of VSVIEW.OCX and VSOCS.OCX?
Thanks.

Have you asked the support folks at ComponentOne?

Yes. They said I could buy their current products ($500) and they would
allow me to download the old ones that I want. I am trying to keep costs
down, so I would rather get the old ones from some developer who is not
using them anymore.

1)
Exactly what versions are you seeking, and do you require the dev license
files too, or could you put up with a "begware" style nag-screen?

2)
look for some fairly recent threads about a "VB dotnet resource kit"
which happens to include lots and lots of their OCX stuff. For free.
With that installed, you might then qualify for the "downgrade"

VSVIEW 3.0, VSOCX 6.0 would be ideal.

I downloaded the resource kit. How would I go about "downgrading"?

I probably have those, somewhere. But, you see, I'm kind of an idealist when
it comes to copying software, since I make my living from it. In fact, at
one time I was a contractor to Videosoft, so I'm maybe even a tiny bit
_more_ protective of their stuff.

I could help you get the ocx files themselves, which (if I recall correctly)
would work for you in a "begware" mode. It would be entirely legitimate for
me to build a trivial app which uses them and then an installation package
for that. Maybe something like <http://obob.com/vb/Project1.zip>
I think such a thing could get you to where you can work with the controls,
as I'm guessing your need is to work on some project you have that calls
for them. But you'd still be on your own as far as acquiring licensing info.

I'm not really sure. I have licensed copies myself, of pretty much everything
Videosoft made before the merger. Even paid for a lot of it, as I was a happy
customer for many years before we worked together.

Though as far as I've ever known, "try before you buy" was also a part of
the Videosoft philosophy - if there can be said to have been one. That's
why I'm pretty sure everything has a fully functional "begware" type mode,
where if you don't have the license info, it still works, it just pops up
dialogs now & then to remind you (and any users of stuff you build) that
it's not a fully licensed copy.
