VB6 help- using VB5 files

Sorry for being such a newbie in this respect, but here's my question:

I have Visual Studio, with VB6 ent., with msdn help installed. Is
there any way to downgrade to just using the VB5 help, on the VB6 app?

I too am not on board with "more help than you ever imagined, or
wanted" approach, and don't like msdn. I read dozens of postings last
night, with so many people remarking the msdn help format is too
distracting and unhelpful. I really like the old quick
at-your-fingertips brief help, and quick loading format.

I may have the VB5 disks (must check); or is it possible to download
the files from MS (not supported, assume are free!). Is that
assumption correct, can anyone supply a link, and are there
instructions I can follow to "fool" VB6 into using them? And last but
not least: will it cover almost all the needed VB6 topics?

I have a quicky tip on using MSDN... first of all, use the search feature as
a last resort <g>.. There may be a way to run VB5 books online (or whatever
it's called) as an addin in VB6 but the context sensitive links will surely
be different. You'll end up searching instead of getting direct help.
Searching VB5 help is much more pleasant than MSDN... anyway, I haven't seen
a link to download any Microsoft help files related to any version of VB
(besides script) that are "free to the public"... if you have an MSDN
subscription, you can get the help files.

Anyway, here's that quicky tip.

Yep, almost all.
But I know of no way to patch together any of the context-sensitive stuff.
I kept VB5 installed on my older system, including the start menu shortcut
right to VB5.hlp, and frequently just fired it up and use it.
Eventually I got mostly used to the newer stuff, but on some of my newer
systems I've brought a copy of the older help file anyway. I don't recall
anything you really need other than that hlp file; I think there isn't any.

put the vb5 help files on your computer.
copy and paste vb5.hlp to my documents.
right click taskbar
click on toolbars
click on desktop
when you need help left click my documents on taskbar then doubleclick vb5.hlp
it will be there anytime you need it
