What kind of algorithm sould be the best for my case ?

Hi,

I m looking for an algorithm for an optimization. I know there are
a lot of existing algoritm.

Here is my problem :

I have serveral ring to do, defined by external and internal diameter.
All these rings are cutted from a disk, and must have the same center.

I don t know how many disk i must have (parameter ndisk), and the rings
that are between the ring i want to make should be the less.
The inner disk (mininum internal ring diameter) is not count as an unusefull
disk.

I think that for my case I need a sort program, and with a bit of
genetic algorithm ( parameter unusefull ring surface shoud be the less, as
the number of disk).

I hope i ve well explained my case.
Do you know the answer, or a link where all i need to find my answer ?

Thanks in advance,

Sebastien.
