My question is simple, Is there a way to execute JDBC type 4 from
Visual Basic and/or VBA? I've searched the forum and have found no
reference to it. We have requirements that prohibit us from using
ODBC. Any help would be appreciated.
There are (commercial) programs that act as a wrapper around java
classes, so that they can be used as an activeX DLL. My guess is that
you search for those programs and handle the JDBC functionality from
java if you have to use JDBC.
I don't know if you have to program for a specific database or generic
database access. For some databases, you don't have to use ODBC, but can
use a database driver directly. Especially MS-Access, Foxpro and DBase
databases can be accessed through the Jet engine without using ODBC.
Hope this helps
