How long will VB be around?

With VB.NET, or Visual Fred the current thing, what future, if any, does
"classic" Visual Basic have?

Also, is VBA going to become VNETA, or has it done so already?

It'll continue to be around as long as copies of it float around
between people that are interested in programming in it, and
as long as support websites are still available. As of this
morning, there are still people programming in QuickBasic,
and no less than 1,000 or so websites supporting it, and making
it available for download... same for GW-Basic, and BasicA.

Microsoft has announced that a multie phased plan for ending support for VB6
will begin in March 2005.

This article explains it nicely.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/support/vb6.aspx

But as CajunCoiler pointed out, the practical lifespan of 6.0 will carry on
for as long as it has a following, or....a very long time. ( theres still
VB3 code in production out there !! ).

Yeah, but have you tried to *find* VB6 out there...?? Imean it's not even
2004 yet!! I stumbled on a site (atomicpark.com) that was selling VB6
Professional and I snatched it immediately, after months of finding nothing
but the "dreaded" .NET :-) Didn't have the books/box, but heck I got enough
of them <grin>

Personally, I feel that I got the better of the deal, VB6 is *so* much more
friendly than .NET! (Classic VB'ers clap here) <g>
