What is the equivalent of IntPtr of Vb.Net in Vb6? For example what'll be the equivalent of the following 2 lines in Vb6?
Dim htok As IntPtr
htok = IntPtr.Zero

Hello, I come from C++ and i now have to work with C#, and someone tell me that bye bye pointers but i think this is not true, i must convert a DIB image in something that i can use in C# (like Image or Bitmap) and the only thing i can do is a DIB into a IntPtr (a pointer). I do this with the platform invoke method of Win32: internal static extern int GdipCreateBitmapFromGdiDib( IntPtr bminfo,

Please, help. Is there a PostThreadMessage equiavalent functionality in .NET framework? I have messages coming from a COM server and they are being delivered in different threads. I would like to receive these messages in one thread, thus synchronize them. I don't want to use form's Invoke method, but something similar, thread-related. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello all, What is the equivalent in the .NET Framework for accessing a device at the block/sector level such as one would when using CreateFile on a device like "\\.\D:"? Attempting to create a BinaryReader on a FileStream opened (read-only) on "D:" yields an Access Denied exception. Thanks,

Hi, I need to have the icon of the assembly that is calling my Control.Library. Using 2.0 Framework the "Drawing.Icon.ExtractAssociatedIcon" does the trick. But this fucntion doesn't exist in the .NET 1.1 Framework, and my control Library must be able to be compiled in 1.1 too. Does anybody knows the solution? thanks a lot in advance,

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
